Maidensbridge success at the district Tag Rugby Tournament

Maidensbridge has once again secured a place in the Dudley Tag Rugby finals next March with an unbeaten performance at a district tournament.

The District Tag Rugby tournament took place at Dudley-Kingswinford Rugby Football Club and featured twenty teams from sixteen schools drawn from a range of primary schools located in the north of the borough. With the depth of talent of the children in our current Year 5 and 6 classes, two teams represented the school at the tournament this afternoon.

Our 'A' team were placed in Pool 2 and played a series of four matches against four other schools in the group. With the top placed team in the pool going forward to the Dudley Finals, it was a very competitive and enthralling situation for both players and spectators. The team played some excellent rugby and convincingly won three of their four matches, but was beaten by a good team from Roberts Primary School to miss out this time round.

The Maidensbridge 'B' team were placed in Pool 4 and played matches against The Glynne, Withymoor, Fairhaven and Blandford Mere Primary Schools. The Maidensbridge children, having their first taste of inter-school team competition, worked well together to convincingly win their pool by winning all their matches on the day. As a result they will now go on to represent the school in the Dudley Tag Rugby Finals in the Spring Term.

We are very proud of all of the children who represented the school at this tournament who demonstrated their competitive spirit and a positive sporting attitude at all times. Well done!

Many thanks to our parents, friends and relatives who supported the children throughout the proceedings.
