As part of this term's topic about various ways that nations and the World are sometimes 'Under Attack', year 6 have been learning about WW 1 & 2. Today they got dressed up as evacuees and recreated and experienced some of the sights and sounds of WW 1& 2.
Our Year 6 evacuees!
They had a really good day at the museum. Children took part in a range of different activities and furthered their learning about both World Wars. They had an opportunity to try on a gas mask, handle lots of different war artefacts and play some war time games too.
Children also visited a real life Anderson shelter and got to experience a little bit about what life would have been like in one of these shelters during an air raid. Throughout the day, children demonstrated that they had learned a lot about the Wars and asked some very thoughtful questions too. Both of the staff at the museum who were with us for the day commented on how well children had behaved and how much they knew!
