Maidensbridge pupils compete in Modern Biathlon qualifying event

Two boys from Maidensbridge made the journey to Shropshire yesterday afternoon to compete in the William Brookes Modern Biathlon event.

The boys, one from both Years 5 and 6 travelled to the Williams Brookes School at Wenlock in Shropshire to compete in a Modern Biathlon event that will enable them to qualify for the British Modern Biathlon Championships in November and the British Schools' Modern Biathlon Championships in March.

The Modern Biathlon consists of a timed 800m run and then sometime later taking to the pool to undertake a 50m swim. Both performances earn points which are combined into a total score.

Both boys did the school proud in that both have enough points to qualify for these prestigious events.

Will achieved a points total of 1841 in the Under 12 boys and Luke was the fastest in the pool and on the track in the under 11 boys competition to earn 2312 points.
