Earlier this week Year 5 & 6 had a visitor from PGMO (professional game match officials.) The visitor was Matt Wilkes who is a full time assistant referee for the Premier League. He delivered a lesson to both classes in which they had to work in a group to design a new piece of equipment that a referee could use during a game. Children designed a poster which contained a drawing of the new equipment along with annotations of the various features and then presented their ideas to the class.
Children really enjoyed it and were very engaged. The organisation are looking to develop a series of lessons to deliver in school and there may be further links to come for us in the future.
