Swimmers propel Maidensbridge to Black Country success
Our girl's swimming team picked up the silver medals in the Black Country School Games.
Having won the district swimming gala in January, the girls were invited to represent Dudley at The Black Country School Games held at the Langley Swimming Centre in Oldbury. The gala was contested by twelve school teams from Walsall, Wolverhampton, Sandwell as well as Dudley.
As it was their first time at the event, the girls had no expectations but to do their best and enjoy the experience of this level of competition. They did not disappoint with all the girls turning in excellent performances for the team. As the results were based on the combined times of each of the swimmers in the team, times and performances were more important than positions in races. The team who proved to be the most consistent would be crowned the winners on the day.
After revealing that the top two teams had been very close, it was announced that the girls had won the silver medal to our collective delight. Yet again, it is another excellent achievement even the size of our school and the facilities we have available to us.
Well done to Amie, Erin and Alex, with credit to Jessica in particular, who was named in the team two days before the event and did an excellent job!
Thanks should also be given to Matilda, who as a valuable member of the team, was unfortunately unable to compete on the day.
As always, our success is a partnership of different groups working together for the benefit of the children. To this end thanks go to our excellent parents who provided help with transport and support on the day. Thank you!
