Wenlock Olympian Games Day 1 - Junior Biathlon
Maidensbridge children have picked up medals for the second consecutive year in the Junior Biathlon event at the Wenlock Olympian Games today.
The Junior Biathlon, consists of a 50 metre swim followed later by a 500m run. Each performance is awarded points and the combined total after the two events determines the the overall ranking.
Alex, one of our Year 5 pupils won the bronze medal after achieving the fastest time in the pool and then completed a solid run on the track.
In the year 6 girls event, we had a team of four girls consisting of Erin, Amie, May and Mollie. Each gave their very best and contributed to their first place in the team event.
Within the same age category, Erin achieved second place with another impressive swim and performance on the track.
However, it was a bitter sweet morning for Tom and James. After a solid swim, their overwhelming time advantage over their rivals on the track did not translate into enough points to elevate them into the medals; finishing in 4th and 5th place.
Well done to all the children who took part in today's proceedings and a huge thank you goes to our ever supportive Year 6 parents who have been a huge part of Year 6's sporting successes this year.
Day two is the athletics, which will see two of our speedy pupils compete in the 60m sprint tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.
